No, I am already hitched. What I am been waiting for is the ability to “hitch-up,” or in geek speak, tether, my T-Mobile G1 smartphone to my Asus Eee PC. To date all the tethering applications in the Android Market require root access, which means that you have to remove the most recent updates to the Android software.
Today I learned that June Fabrics, which sells the PdaNet tethering software for other smartphones released a beta of their Android application. I went to the site and downloaded the software and tried installing it on my Asus Eee PC, but the installation fails when installing the modem driver. I think the problem is due to the fact that I don’t have a full installation of Windows XP on the Asus, instead I have a slimmed down version that I created using nLite. Assuming that is the case, I will have to wait until I get my birthday present next month to try out this software.
