Windows 7

By

I am one of the many geeks who has downloaded the Windows 7 beta from Microsoft and have successfully installed it on a computer, in my case in a virtual machine running on my HP TouchSmart desktop computer. The virtualization software that I am using is Sun’s VirtualBox, which is free and runs on a multitude of host operating systems. This desktop computer has 4 GB of RAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, so it has plenty of horsepower to run Windows 7 as if it was on a real computer.

I have not spent too much time playing with Windows 7, but so far what I have seen has been favorable, although I personally do not dislike Vista so there aren’t specific things that I am testing to see if they work. I am considering doing a clean install of Windows 7 on my Toshiba Tecra M4 Tablet PC, which might provide a better test of running on older hardware. As I stumble upon things in Windows 7 I will post them here.
